Neoholothele incei, known as the Trinidad Olive Tarantula or Trinidad Olive Gold, is a small yet fascinating communal-capable species native to the tropical forests of Trinidad and Venezuela. This species is renowned for its striking coloration—ranging from olive-gold to metallic green depending on the lighting—and its intricate web-building behavior. Unlike most tarantulas, N. incei is semi-arboreal and highly fossorial, constructing elaborate silk tunnel systems that cover the substrate and enclosure walls. In the wild, it inhabits humid lowland forests, often found within rotting logs, tree roots, and soil crevices where temperature and moisture remain stable year-round. Fast, secretive, and highly prolific, N. incei is one of the few species known to coexist peacefully in communal setups under proper conditions. In captivity, it thrives with moderately deep, moist substrate, vertical and horizontal web anchor points, and consistent humidity—rewarding observant keepers with active web architecture and occasional group behavior.
